Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 5 - 6 cups flour
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 egg
- cooking spray
Instructions
- Pour the water into a bowl and combine with sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Sprinkle the yeast into the bowl and let sit for 10 minutes, it should foam
- In a mixing bowl mix the water mixture with one cup of flour, mix until combined
- Slowly add in salt and 4 more cups of flour. Mix until combined
- Add more flour if it is sticky still
- Knead for about a minute
- Cover with kitchen towel and let sit for one hour
- Heat oven to 450 degrees F
- Pull into strips and make into pretzel shape
- Brush egg glaze on pretzel and sprinkle with salt
- Place on baking sheet
- Bake until golden brown, roughly 15 minutes
